Your UJM account is easily accessible from any Microsoft Mail application, as well as most 3rd party applications for both Mac and PC.
On a PC, Here is what you need to do to set up your email:
- In Outlook Express, go to Tools>Accounts and click Add>Mail (or if thisis your first time in the program you can use the setup wizard)
- Enter your name and email address
- Set incoming mail server selection as POP3
- For incoming server, put yourdomain.com
- For outgoing server, put yourdomain.com UNLESS your ISP (road runner, charter, etc) requires you to use their outgoing (SMTP) server. If so use the one they provide (smtp.charter.net, etc). Check our list of Common SMTP Servers if you are unsure.
- On the next screen, enter your account name as your full email address (yourname@yourdomain.com)
- Your password will be sent in a separate email, along with a link to change it if needed.
- Do not check the SPA box. Click next, or finish.
- You are not quite finished, so don’t check email yet!
- While the Internet Accounts box is still open, select your new mail account and click properties (Here is where we tweak the settings)
- Under the general tab, you can rename the account to something friendly like Yourdomain Mail if you wish.
- Add your full email address in the reply to field, and leave the box checked to include this account when receiving mail
- This is important – under servers>outgoing mail server you need to check the box for “my server requires authentication”, and then check the box for use same settings as incoming mail
- Under the advanced tab, check the box to “leave a copy on the server.” This allows you to also get email from another computer if you need to do so, or from webmail. You can also set it to remove them after a certain number of days after they are checked.
- Below this box, check the box to remove from the server when you empty your deleted items. This keeps your server space clean.
- Click OK at the bottom of the window and you should be done. Close your Internet Accounts window if it is still open.
In outlook express, you can create an new folder to keep your new email separate from other email accounts if you wish. You would create the folder or subfolder and then use tools>message rules in outlook express to filter your email into those new folders.
